Im Jahresbericht von Activision Blizzard, Blizzards Publisher, könnte man eine Stelle so deuten, dass noch ein Spiel um den Höllenfürsten in Entwicklung ist. In dieser heißt es wörtlich:

Übersetzung: Blizzard arbeitet derzeit an neuen Spielen, darunter ein neues Add On für World of Warcraft, Cataclysm, Starcraft 2, das als nächtest veröffentlicht wird und Nachfolgern zu Diablo.

Ob dies ein Fehler oder eine versehentliche Ankündigung ist, ist noch nicht bekannt. Auch seitens Blizzard kam noch kein Kommentar zu dieser Mitteilung.
